WHY:
The impact of COVID 19 has affected nearly every aspect of people’s lives worldwide. Unprecedented unemployment, coupled with the rapidly changing employer application, screening and interview processes, has left many job seekers overwhelmed and frustrated. Employers are expending more resources than ever to recruit, hire and train employees and many are experiencing high turnover.
SCC clients want and need to work, but often lack the computer proficiency, soft skills and interview skills necessary to be successful in today’s competitive job market.
Colorado is facing a skilled labor gap in industries such as the construction trades, advanced manufacturing, healthcare and IT to only name a few. SCC will help meet this need by providing access to an untapped labor pool, providing supportive services and training to SCC clients to remove barriers to their success.
HOW
SCC will collaborate with employer partners across multiple industry segments, tailoring training services to meet the needs of both the clients and the employers. SCC Employment Opportunity Lab will offer a variety of services to assist employers and job seekers alike. SCC clients can choose either self-service or staff-assisted options to meet their employment and training needs. Work Skill Instructors will connect job seekers with local employment, training, and educational opportunities, as well as any available funding.
